•••grooming services•••

Cat grooming is often more difficult than it might first appear. Using a comprehensive "fear-free approach," we strive to provide your cat with a low-stress grooming experience. From nail trimming to lion cuts, we want to help you keep your cat looking and feeling his or her best!
We are particularly proud to offer Soft Paws, soft synthetic caps for nails. Soft Paws are a humane alternative to declawing, a practice to which we are strongly opposed. You can bring in your own Soft Paws for us to apply, or you can choose from our stock array of available colors. (Alternatives such as Soft Claws, Purdy Paws, etc. are equally recommended.) More information can be found on the Soft Paws website. You may also wish to read the American Association of Feline Practitioners' client brochure on Alternatives to Declawing.
Our grooming services include the following:
♡ nail trimming
♡ Soft Paws application -soft coverings for nails; declawing alternative ♡ comb-outs ♡ coat conditioning treatment |
♡ sanitary shaves
-shaving the fur under the tail to keep the rectal area more hygienic ♡ partial/regional shaves ♡ lion cuts -full body shave, usually leaving "mane" and "furry boots" and "tail pouf" |
Please note that baths are not routinely offered, as they are rarely needed or helpful, in addition to causing great distress to most cats. Under certain circumstances, e.g. "skunking", bathing may be helpful. Please contact us in advance to discuss and schedule.
For the standard services listed above, you may use our online scheduler (link below) or call or e-mail us if you prefer. If you feel that your cat may not be amenable to the procedure—particularly important in the case of a lion cut—please contact us in advance to discuss and schedule. We routinely recommend products such as Feliway (over-the-counter pheromone spray) and gabapentin (veterinary-prescribed medication) to reduce cats' anxiety and allow for a safer, lower-stress experience for everyone.
Thank you for considering Nine Lives Cat Center for your cat's grooming needs! We are currently offering grooming appointments on Wednesdays from 4-8pm. We look forward to seeing you soon!
