Nine Lives Cat Center
💗 At Nine Lives Cat Center, we are proud to offer specialized boarding for cats in the Cleveland/Akron area. Dr. Amy MacKay, a feline veterinarian who first established Nine Lives back in 2003 as a full-service veterinary clinic, personally cares for our feline guests. She is uniquely qualified to administer medications (including injections, fluids, etc.), provide additional care under special circumstances, and advise/act as needed should any problems arise.
The comfort and happiness of our boarders is paramount. Our Hotel Homer is a clean, bright space with large windows and a TV to watch, and classical music to listen to. Cats are given double cages to ensure separation of their litter area from their resting/eating area. Optional shelves add space and variety, while beds, toys, and treats are offered freely. Cats exhibiting signs of shyness or anxiety will be given privacy options and calming pheromones, whereas outgoing cats will have opportunities for playtime outside of their cage. Every cat is unique and special, and we will tailor their experience here according to personality and preference. By choosing to board your cat at Hotel Homer, you are also supporting our sanctuary cats through our stay it forward incentive. Homer's Fund
💗 Homer's Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was created in 2008 by Dr. Amy to help provide care for the large number of cats taken in by her vet clinic through the years. The organization was named for Homer, the brave cat pictured above, who was badly burned in a house fire in 2004. (Learn more about Homer!)
Since 2003, Homer's Fund has taken in more than 150 cats in need—most abandoned, some rescued, some signed over due to hardship. All were adopted into new homes or welcomed as clinic cats. Through the years, more than 60 special cats have called Nine Lives home, including our current residents—check out their profile pages to learn their stories. Our cats roam freely in the back half of our center, separate from our boarders. In 2021, we officially launched Apricity, our senior sanctuary program, voluntarily taking in eligible cats. No matter their background, demeanor, or health status, these cats become part of our Nine Lives family. Each cat is allowed to be exactly who they are, living out their rest of their lives while receiving care and lots of love. We feel privileged to help those senior cats who are most at risk, with nowhere else to turn. If you would like more information, please click the button below.
